Leetle computer, you are no match for me!

Fri Sep 11, 2009, 8:20 PM
Also entitled, "RUN, COWARDS! I LEEVE!"

Finally got the wireless USB working. Had to buy a new part but at this point I was pretty fed up with netgear and it wasn't that much money to drop. Plus, it looks like I'm getting a better wireless signal than I did before, so that's a definate plus. Now I just gotta test the computer and see how it holds out compared to being wired directly into the router.

EDIT: And I have encountered the gamer's worst enemy: lag. Signal strength from where my wireless device is is about 51%, which isn't as good as I thought it was, plus I've had some real bad lag. And this isn't the slowdown lag, oh no, this is the game suddenly freezes up for a few seconds, gets jittery and then pops back in with enough time for me to see myself ragdoll lag. So. Now I have several options. The first is to run a lot of Ethernet cable through my attic and into my room, the second is for me to buy a wireless router for my room and the third is to get an extension on the usb cord that the adapter is using.

There are problems with all three of these solutions. Running cable's gonna be a pain in the butt and, while I am fully able to return the wireless router that I purchased, it kinda renders my endeavors so far a complete waste. Buying a new router could work, but I do not know how our modem is configured (if it feeds into only one phone jack in our house or all of them) nor do I know if our ISP charges more for more routers in the house. The last solution...kinda defeats the purpose of having a wireless adaptor. If I got an extension, it' pretty much be sitting about a room away from the router, which is kind of ridiculous.

Heya! How you doing? It's the Female Medic from AFO, Scout gave me your username and I thought I'd say hi :3

Hello! Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I actually haven't had a lot of time to play TF2 lately, but we should totally try to go a round sometime.

How have things been?

Same here , haven't been able to play cause of massive lag (apparently I'm not the only one) and lot's of sewing. Other than that things have been pretty good round here got a new commission that'll bring in some much need money.

How're things with you?
:iconcuiasodosharpedge:
Pretty good. I saw District 9 recently and thought it was absolutely awesome. Gave me an idea for another cosplay, though I'm still going to try to go Medic whatever convention I go to next. Me and a bunch of friends also planned a really funny group cosplay and possible skit for Megacon/Metrocon.

Commission? That sounds neat. I'm in school for art but I'm not really confident in my ability to get things done on time, so I could never do something like that. I'm still hoping to save up enough money for that new computer, but I haven't been able to get in as many hours at my job as I wanted, so that's going to take a bit longer than I thought.

Oooo District 9 looks reaaally cool, I really wanna go see it. It must be good if it gave you inspiration, what'd it bring to mind? You've piqued my interest :3

Yeah it can be tough to get it done on time but it's a pretty good way to get extra money and really my only income at the moment XD though some commissioners can get reaaaaaally annoying. What art department are you going to school for? I'm thinking of trying to get a new laptop for gaming so that I can give the one I have now to my Scout. Got a lotta stuff to do before that though.
